Bare — Privacy Policy

Bare has no account system, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no server of ours for anything to reach. This page describes exactly what stays on your device and the few times the app talks to the network.

What Bare collects

Nothing. We do not receive your browsing history, your bookmarks, your searches, your IP address, or any identifier for you or your device. There is no backend to receive them.

What stays on your device

• Browsing history, kept for the period you choose in Settings and deleted after that.
• Downloads, cookies, and website data, which you can clear from Settings at any time.
• The sites you have switched blocking off for, and per-site settings such as text size.
• Private tabs, which leave nothing behind once you close them.

Bookmarks sync through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. That data belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot read it and we have no key to it. Turning off iCloud for Bare in iOS Settings stops the sync.

When Bare does use the network

Two cases, and no others.

1. Pages you open. Bare is a browser, so the sites you visit receive requests from your device in the normal way. Bare blocks requests to known advertising and tracking hosts before they are made, but the site you asked for still sees you.
2. Filter list updates, about once a week in the background. Bare downloads updated blocking rules from these hosts:
   • easylist.to
   • easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org
   • secure.fanboy.co.nz
   • raw.githubusercontent.com
   • cdn.jsdelivr.net
   These are third parties we do not control. Like any web server, they can see the IP address the request came from and when it arrived. Bare sends nothing else: no account, no identifier, no information about you or the sites you visit. You can turn every filter list off in Settings, and then these requests stop.

Purchases

Bare Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple. Apple tells the app whether the purchase exists. We never see your name, your payment details, or your Apple Account.

Children

Bare is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
