Tap the shield in the address bar. Blocking stops for that site and the page reloads. Every site you have done this for is listed under Settings, so you can undo it later.
Blocking only applies to pages you open in Bare. It is not a VPN and it cannot reach into other apps.
Bare uses Safari's content blocking, which works on requests and on hiding elements. It cannot block advertising that a site serves from its own domain in the same response as the content, which is how most in-feed and pre-roll advertising works now. Ordinary banners, pop-ups, trackers and cookie notices are handled.
On the very first launch Bare compiles about 163,000 rules into the format Safari uses. That takes a few seconds and happens once. Later launches reuse the compiled result.
Bare refreshes filter lists in the background roughly once a week. You can force it from Settings with Update Rules Now. If an update fails, the previous rules stay in use rather than leaving you unprotected.
